Tonight: little old ladies try to stay awake until midnight. HOW will it go?
Happy new year, in case we don’t make it!

Sailor Moon fic rec
OK darlings, I have a Sailor Moon fic rec for you! Michiru/Haruka, a little character study around destiny and identity:
Like Shooting Stars by sugar-fey @ livejournal Michiru wonders, not for the first time, if she only loves music because the old Sailor Neptune did.
I have a bunch of love for this, not least because it’s something I’m really interested in w/Sailor Moon and...

Let there be cake
For new years I’m pulling out the ever-popular lemon & orange cake again. Baking time! It’s gluten free, it’s wheat free, it’s still completely unhealthy and delicious!
Have a recipe:
2 medium oranges or 3 lemons (or mix and match!) 3 large eggs 9 oz caster sugar (can use less or more; add and taste, it depends on how sweet or bitter the fruit is) 1 teaspoon GF...

One knows one has a cold when one manages to read the word “users” as “trousers”. IDK, I’d be interested in hearing about religious/ideological schisms about trousers too I guess…
I bet…
I just bet they have though. It seems somehow almost certain.

halfpixieman replied to your post: 2011: Stuff I Read, the list
Yeah I think you can safely say it was a good year for comics. Woah… :P
It was the year when I discovered Swedish alternative comics! Also the year when amazing amounts of really good manga were released in English, wow. And people say manga publishing is going to the dogs… I have to say, I’d have been really happy if...

sarabelfgren asked: Hi Tofslan! It feels kind of silly writing this in English, since both of us are Swedish, but since this is an English blog ... Mats and I saw your post on why you loved our book and it was amazing for us to read. Thank you! :) When it comes to fan fics: Mats and I think it's incredible if people are inspired to write their own Engelsfors stories (as long as it's done none-commercially,...

Hi! Sorry, I’m new at this, I didn’t realize that I could answer you here. Mats and I are all for - and thrilled by - all expressions of fandom. :) We have decided not to read any fanfic though, at least not until we’ve finished the trilogy. :)
Oh, no problem at all — to be honest tumblr can be really...
Of course the terrifying thing about Cirkeln fandom is the fact that it’s tiny and the authors are very engaged. I know they have great love for fanart but their thoughts on FOR EXAMPLE fanfic are unknown.
I just discovered (via looking at other notes on the images I just reblogged) that one of them is on tumblr, ahahahaha hiding forever.

2011: Stuff I Read, the list
If there’s anything to be added to this list it’ll probably be comics; I’m reading Låt den rätte komma in (= let the right one in) by John Ajvide Lindqvist and Spill by Sigrid Combuchen, but my brain is winter-slow and the odds of me being done with either of them by the end of the year are vanishingly small. (Oh look, this year I’ve mostly read various kinds of comics. I...

Fireworks season: cat completely unbothered, humans considering hiding under the bed.

The cat that was the cause of last week’s Great Cat Drama has been hanging around on and off ever since, and seems to possibly have healing injuries, and is very, very dirty and scruffy-looking. I’m rather afraid that it may have got into a minor fight with a car or a major fight with another cat and then have freaked out and got lost. We can’t really let it in because we have...

Still stuck on yuletide
I also got a yuletide madness treat, and it was Cirkeln fanfic. Vanessa/Linnéa Cirkeln fanfic. Darlings, I squeaked out loud at the very idea. Rose of Versailles femslash AND Cirkeln femslash, my god, have I been good this year or what.

Present Perfect is the Rose of Versailles fic, a super-sweet story about Oscar trying to do her christmas shopping.

Odd realisation, or, why I ended up not writing a...
While some mumin characters live in my head in both English and Swedish quite happily, Tofslan and Vifslan (in English Thingumy and Bob) live there only in Swedish. I have no idea about the English versions, although I have read the relevant book. They didn’t stick. I think I just like their way of talking in Swedish much better (and use it at Bojan on a semi-regular basis).
It probably...
Yuletide! My story has been received with general positivity so far. One’s fear is always that no one will even notice. But no! And I got Oscar/Rosalie fic! And I may write some quick treats, hmmmmm… we’ll see when I wake up I guess!
And merry Christmas to those as are celebrating today! Personally I’m collapsing with a book after yesterday’s mountains of food.

God jul / merry Christmas to those as celebrate it today. <3
halfpixieman asked: You should know, after reading your (many) comments about Oscar's legs I found myself staring AT her legs regardless of what else was happening in the scene. I probably missed a lot but her leg's are THAT good. Haha.

Bojan: So I realised something on the way home! About songs for fandoms! You know what’s an Utena song?
Tofsla: No what what what?
Bojan: 40 day dream!
Tofsla: Ohhhh… really?
Bojan: OK, listen to this:
I’ve been sleeping for 40 days and I know I’m sleeping because this dream’s too amazing She’s got gold doorknobs where her eyes used to be One turn and I...

Ugh god sleep is just not a thing right now, so many things to keep track of = brain refuses to shut up. Yaaaawn omg.

General status update: Bojan trying to do precision cooking which requires a temperature of exactly 122 degrees C with a thermometer that goes up to 100 degrees C. J singing single line of a song over and over and over again at high volume. He has a very fine voice but well, you know. And me? I’m flat on my back in bed, clinging to my heating pad. I made it through all my housework and then...

1. I declare my yuletide story to be complete. This doesn’t mean I will stop poking it every five minutes and changing words for Improved Style And Flow or whatever bullshit my brain can come up with as an excuse to keep poking. I’m pretty sure editing after submission is both the best and worst thing about exchanges hosted on AO3. But it does mean I have officially turned in a story...

Basically we had a slow damp spring and a summer so humid that you couldn’t keep vegetables fresh for two days even in the fridge and you could just forget about eating meat if you loved your stomach lining.* And then we had a damp autumn.** And we’re STILL having a damp autumn. In December.
This year’s weather is fired.
* This is actually normal here but it usually lasts a...

wide awake, drinking green tea. I was thinking I could wind down a bit by getting up and having something warm to drink, but the cat is doing its best to wind me up instead.
Tumblr, would you just stop fucking eating my posts. I know I’m meant to be asleep. But I’m NOT. I’m lying here making lists in my head of stuff I have to do in the morning and worrying about what my written Swedish grade will be. JUST LET ME ENTERTAIN MYSELF.
bienenwolf:
Someone dropped glitter all over Versailles. Who’s going to have to clean all that up? No wonder the French revolted.
Well quite.

Fic status: 1,200 words, needs an ending, a beginning and some editing in general, feedback people busy, flail flail flail. But still less flail than usual. I keep wondering if this means I should be worried and it’s actually terrible, since the more I worry about a story the more people seem to end up loving it. Ahahahaha. OK I’M DONE SECOND-GUESSING THIS SHIT NOW BACK TO WRITING.
